Activities & Wellbeing Coordinator

Location: Abeokuta, Ogun State
Report To: Care Home Manager

Job Purpose


To plan, organise, and lead a variety of activities that promote the physical, emotional, and social wellbeing of residents. The role focuses on creating a stimulating, inclusive, and enjoyable environment that enhances quality of life and fosters a sense of community within Bayink Care-Homes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and deliver a varied programme of daily, weekly, and seasonal activities tailored to residents’ interests, abilities, and needs.
  • Encourage participation by engaging with residents in a friendly, supportive, and respectful manner.
  • Promote residents’ independence and self-expression through activities that are meaningful to them.
  • Work closely with care staff, families, and volunteers to understand residents’ preferences and life histories.
  • Organise events, celebrations, and outings that bring enjoyment and connection.
  • Maintain accurate records of activities, attendance, and resident feedback.
  • Ensure all activities comply with health and safety standards.
  • Manage an activities budget responsibly.
  • Promote the home’s activities programme through noticeboards, newsletters, and social media where appropriate.

Requirements

Skills and Qualities

  • Friendly, patient, and approachable with excellent communication skills.

  • Creative and resourceful in planning activities.

  • Organised, reliable, and able to manage time effectively.

  • Sensitive to the individual needs of older people, including those living with dementia.

  • Confident in leading groups and encouraging participation.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Experience in a similar role within a care or community setting (preferred but not essential).

  • Understanding of the needs of older people, including those with physical or cognitive impairments.

  • Basic IT skills for record keeping and communication.

  • First Aid and Manual Handling training (desirable – can be provided).
